Export Public GEDCOM File

This new plugin provides an alternative and simpler method for exporting your tree plus optional supporting data such as media and outline source citations in a common format optimised for current family history applications and websites, with all references to individuals marked as either Living or Private removed automatically.

It is aimed principally at users who wish to produce a tree suitable for public presentation for their extended family, or to attract other researchers with a common interest. It concentrates on people and facts, while supporting data such as media, sources and basic notes can be included or omitted as required. By omitting more specialised Family Historian features such as detailed witnesses, source template structure and more complex citations, it dispenses with most of the complex configuration options needed to tailor this additional data (which may be of limited interest to the target audience) for the extremely wide range of GEDCOM dialects across both current and legacy destinations.

  1. This is PERFECT! I was looking for a way to export my GEDCOM in a very stripped-down file to import into Ancestry. I didn’t want any living people, no notes, nothing but Birth Marriage Death events and no sources. I use Mike Tate’s “Export GEDCOM File” plugin a lot, but I didn’t want to mess up all my export settings, as they are very particular! This much simpler plugin is absolutely what I needed, thank you Mark Draper for creating this!
