Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings Backup tab

The BACKUP all Family Historian Custom and Preference Settings button performs the following actions for each installed variant of the FH Program (e.g. Family Historian Version 6.2.7.0, Family Historian Demo 3.0 Version 3.0.1, etc.):

  • Within the Backup Folder it creates a sub-folder with the same name as the righthand Settings Path folder, which for a standard installation will simply be Family Historian, and that holds all the following settings.
  • Saves every folder & file from the Settings Path folders, so even modified Standard Diagrams, Fact Sets, Reports, Text Schemes, etc., are saved, except that the \Map\Cache folders are excluded.
  • Ensures the Modified and Accessed date-time stamps of each Backup Folder file matches each Settings Path original file.
  • If any Settings File is deleted from a Settings Path folder, then on the next run the plugin offers to delete it from the Backup Folder too.
  • If any Settings File in the Backup Folder is newer than the file being saved from the Settings Path folder, then the plugin asks what to do:
Copy Old Program File or Keep New Backup File.
  • Any Diagram Background Picture files or Box Icon files NOT stored within the Settings Path folder Icons sub-folder are also saved.
  • All the relevant Preference settings stored in the Windows Registry are preserved in a Registry.keys file.
