Use the Choose Backup Folder button to set the Backup Folder, which should use the Tools > Preferences > Backup > Default Backup Folder setting. This Backup Folder will hold a sub-folder for each installed variant of the FH Program, which for a standard installation will simply be Family Historian, and that folder holds all the saved settings.
Use the Open Backup Folder button to show the Backup Folder in Windows File Explorer.
Use the Reset Plugin Defaults button to reset window positions & sizes and the options below to default values.
Use the Set Window Fonts button to Set Window Fonts and Colours.
Use the Allow Restore Registry Data option to enable/disable the RESTORE Registry Data Keys button.
Set the Enable Diagnostic Mode to debug the Command Prompt popup commands, messages, and files.
Set the Utilise Dated Sub-folders option to allow multiple copies of backup data in dated & timed sub-folders.
- The dated sub-folders use the format \FH Settings yyyy-mm-dd hhmm\ similar to Family Historian Project Backups.
- The chosen Backup Folder will always be used by the Restore tab.
- On the Backup tab, if the folder path ends with a dated sub-folder, then it will be replaced by one with today’s date, otherwise a dated sub-folder will be appended to the path.
- Once a Backup has been invoked, this dated sub-folder automatically becomes the default Backup Folder for the Restore tab.
- There is no limit to, nor management of, old dated sub-folders, so they must be managed in Windows.
Set the Allow the FH Program Version to be later than the Backup Folder Version to relax the usual requirement that versions must be identical. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
