Export Gedcom File (GWC) Gedmill Website Creator

Introduction

GEDmill from Logic Mill offers a free website/CD/DVD family history creation utility as described in the Migration Guide below. Visit The Logic Mill or GEDmill Download for product details. It builds a mini-family tree diagram onto the web page of each individual.

Most Multimedia Conversion modes are supported, but the Local Media Object modes are best.

The Character Set Encoding defaults to UTF-8 with all Unicode characters supported.

The [[private]] Text Option defaults to Include private text but remove the [[ ]].

The Rich Text Formatting defaults to Remove rich text codes leaving just plain text.

Migration Guide

After using the FH Plugin, run the GEDmill utility and review the Settings such as the Images tab Multiple individual images.

Click Next> and Browse to the FH Plugin Export folder for the Project … GWC UTF8.ged file to import.

Click Next> successively to load the GEDCOM and Media and create the website pages with suitable options.

(GWC+) Full Data Export Details

All the (Std+) Full Data Standard GEDCOM Release 5.5 rules apply except as defined below.

Individual & Family Records (INDI, FAM)

★ Associated Person (ASSO)
Each ASSOciated Person is converted to a custom Event using the EVEN tag with a Fact local Note with an Associate: and Relationship: label.

★ Individual/Family Tags (AFN, ALIA, ANCI, DESI, RIN, RFN, SUBM, BAPL, CONL, ENDL, SLGC, SLGS)
Each tag is converted to a synthetic custom Event using the EVEN tag with any value on the same line.

★ Custom Attribute (_ATTR, FACT)

Each custom Attribute is converted to a custom Event using the EVEN tag, with any associated value retained on the tag line instead of a local Note.

★ Fact Age (AGE)

Each AGE field is moved to the Fact local Note with an Individual’s Age: or Male/Lady Partner Age: label.

★ Fact E-mail, Website, Fax, Phone (_EMAIL, EMAIL, _WEB, WWW, FAX, PHON)

Any Fact E-mail or Website or Fax or Phone field is converted to a Fact local Note with an E-mail Address: or Website Address: or Fax Number or Phone Number: label.

Repository Records & Submitter Records (REPO, SUBM)

★ Record Address, E-mail, Website, Fax, Phone (ADDR, _EMAIL, EMAIL, _WEB, WWW, FAX, PHON)

Any Record Address or E-mail or Website or Fax or Phone field is converted to a Record local Note with a Postal Address: or E-mail Address: or Website Address: or Fax Number or Phone Number: label.
Except that in a Submitter Record the Address is moved to the Phone field.

Custom Id (REFN)

★ Custom Id (REFN)
Every Custom Id is moved to the record Note with a Custom Id: label.

All the (Std-) Brief Data Standard GEDCOM Release 5.5 rules apply together with the (GWC+) Full Data Export Details defined above.
